We cannot afford to wait for years or decades to address the climate crisis caused by the lack of action from the industries in Angul and Talcher. It is imperative that we take action now. We cannot depend solely on the industry or government machinery to solve this problem. By collaborating and working together, we can overcome obstacles and find solutions to the challenges our city faces. It is our responsibility to take action now, not only for ourselves but also for the well-being of our families.

Ways to Give

There are many ways to give back to our community. We believe that by engaging volunteers and like-minded community partners in the collective effort of planting trees, we can improve our environment, create more sustainable neighborhoods, and equitably strengthen our society.

The Opportunity

Our Window of Opportunity Is Open Now

Our beloved Angul city and its villages face a serious crisis of rapid climate change and biodiversity loss. We don't have years or decades to address these existential threats.

Our actions will also determine whether we conserve enough land and water to slow the rapid acceleration of life expectancy. If we do both, we will safeguard people from the disastrous effects of these crises. So much can occur in a single lifetime. Excessive carbon dioxide emissions driven by unplanned industrialization have almost ruined our environment, which happened in our lifetime. We have seen a nearly rapid temperature rise and desertification of our farmlands.

Poor air quality is a common problem in many cities in Odisha, especially Angul and Talcher. It can lead to decreased human health, damage to landscape.

Trees remove air pollution

Trees can improve air quality through a number of means:

  • They reduce air temperature thus alter pollution concentrations,
  • Trees directly removing pollutants from the air.
  • Finally, trees turned out to be crucial for maintaining the large pores that characterize the soil in the area and which lead water into the ground. If there were no trees, the water would just run off or evaporate. More trees can boost groundwater recharge.

Urban forests can remove multiple tons of ozone, gaseous air pollution, and particulate matter each year either through direct uptake of gasses or temporarily intercepting airborne particles. The combined positive impacts of an urban forest lead to a net reduction in urban ozone formation

Our Goal

Goals for 2024.

We will partner with local communities around Anugul and Talcher to conserve hundreds and thousands of acres of land. Together we will conserve critical forests, restore natural river banks and replant lands.

How To Get Involved

Lead a Tree Planting Event

Plan and host your own event! This is a great opportunity to bring your community together for a good cause! Find a good date, time, and location, then contact us to secure your trees!

Find a tree planting event in our web site and offer your time and efforts to plant trees! This is a great way to get involved, with less time commitment than hosting your own event.

Don’t want to get your hands dirty? Make a donation! You can donate money to help organize the events.

Gift Tree Seedlings

Can’t plant the trees yourself? Gift a tree planting site, tree seedlings or other native plants!

For successful tree plantation, it is crucial to choose native tree species adapted to our climate and soil conditions. We have partnered with the Hurticulture Department to provide free trees for plantations. Some of the trees planed are:

  • Jamu Koli - Jamun (Syzygium cumini)
  • Nimba - Neem (Azadirachta indica)
  • Mango (Mangifera indica) - Neem (Azadirachta indica)
  • Bael (Aegle marmelos)
  • Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus)
  • Bamboo (Bambusa)
  • Mahua (Madhuca longifolia)
Choose a Date

The monsoon season, which lasts from June to September, is the best time to plant trees in these areas. The plentiful rainfall during this time period supports the early growth of trees.

The success of our campaign relies on each and every one of you. There are numerous ways to contribute to our community. By providing your support, you are investing in the prospects and resources that will aid in preparing the upcoming generation of leaders. If you are interested in exploring the option of making a significant donation to Antaryami Gurukul, please send a WhatsApp Message
